(Antigo, WI – October 15, 2014) This is one hot potato!

The Wisconsin Spudmobile is on the road and towing the mark! This mobile education unit is a long-time vision of the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA) and is now a reality as it travels throughout the Badger State.

Geared towards education and positive family experiences, the purpose of the Spudmobile is to help consumers understand food production and the process leading up to the quality products they find in produce departments.

“This is a traveling billboard that is actually functional,” says WPVGA Director of Promotions Dana Rady. “It contains eight exhibits that will educate visitors about the quality work Wisconsin growers do, including how they conserve Mother Nature’s resources, utilize the most up-to-date technologies and provide quality and affordable food for families on a daily basis.”

It has also proven to be a significant investment for the industry, and one that has and will continue to require a team-oriented approach.

“Members of the industry have been involved in the process since day one,” says Rady. “That isn’t going to change with the events lined up and the requests for appearances the Spudmobile continues to receive.”

The Spudmobile features eight different exhibits that take visitors on a journey from the farmer’s field right to their dinner plates in a matter of moments. Through interactive technologies and eye-catching, colorful graphics, exhibits are sure to tempt the taste buds of anyone who walks past.

People will not only learn about how farmers are fantastic stewards of the environment and how they incorporate the latest technologies into their everyday practices, but they’ll also learn about various varieties provided right in the Badger State, where those varieties are grown in Wisconsin, the process that brings people’s potatoes from the field to their forks and nutritional facts and statistics about America’s favorite vegetable. Finally, kids will have a great time playing games on the interactive touch table as they learn how vast the Wisconsin potato and vegetable industry truly is.

A fun-filled project with high appeal, consumers are seeing and will continue to see the Wisconsin Spudmobile at retail stores, county and state fairs, schools, sporting events and featured events for individual growers, to name a few. Growers will be involved in various events as well to interact with the crowds and help the public meet the people who provide their food.

“This is the beginning of a new journey for Wisconsin’s potato and vegetable growers,” Rady adds. “And it’s something you’re going to want to experience in person. So keep your eyes peeled, because the Spudmobile will be coming to a location near you!”
